Following on from yesterday’s look at the documentary “The Wrecking Crew” I am today going to look at the fan-made 4 CD collection “We Got Good At It” which collects highlights of the collective’s work between the years 1962 and 1971.

Many of the musicians used on these recordings will be unknown to the majority of music listeners.

Some have subsequently become well known for their own music – such as Glen Campbell and Leon Russell, whilst others may be vaguely familiar by name, like Hal Blaine, without necessarily being associated with the vast number of successful recordings that they contributed to for big-name artists.

kickstarter-300x300This compilation was originally put together to raise awareness of the documentary which, at that point, needed funds raised to pay for licensing costs before the film could actually be released. A kickstarter page was started which eventually raised over $310,000 – thus enabling the film to be issued.

Bearing in mind that this is a fan-made, totally unofficial, compilation you won’t find it on the shelves of your local (or online) record shop. It is out there in cyberspace, though, and well worth tracking down. I mean, just check out that tracklist (below)!!

front-300x300Also sitting in cyberspace is the seasonal follow-up compilation “Christmas With The Wrecking Crew”, which contains 29 Christmas themed tracks.

“We Got Good At It”, meanwhile, has a massive 126 tracks spread over the 4 CDs including hit singles, TV themes and dialogue excerpts – all of which give a good flavour of the aforementioned documentary and an excellent introduction to the diverse world of the Wrecking Crew.
